Paramount has officially begun development on the fourth installment of the Rush Hour franchise after reports that former President Donald Trump personally requested a new film, Variety reports.

Brett Ratner, who directed the first three films, will return to helm Rush Hour 4. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are set to reprise their iconic roles as Chief Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter, respectively. Plot details and additional casting have not yet been announced.

Jackie Chan initially teased Rush Hour 4 back in 2022, but no further updates were shared until now.

The buddy-cop action-comedy franchise began in 1998, followed by a sequel in 2001 and a third film in 2007. All three films were box office hits, grossing a combined $850.8 million worldwide against budgets ranging from $264 million to $305 million.
