20:30 4 December, 2025At Art Basel Miami, Cartier unveiled Into the Wild — a three-day immersive exhibition celebrating the house’s most enduring emblem: the Panthère. Across five meticulously designed rooms, guests were guided through the evolution of one of Cartier’s most recognizable signatures, from the first onyx-spotted creations of 1914 to today’s sculptural high-jewelry interpretations.

Visitors were greeted by a dazzling diamond-and-white-gold Panthère brooch, displayed against sweeping panoramic video installations. One gallery was dedicated to Jeanne Toussaint — Cartier’s legendary mid-20th-century creative director, whose vision transformed the panther into the maison’s defining icon. Archival clips, bracelets, and rare jewels from the Toussaint era were shown in museum-grade vitrines.

The exhibition traced the Panthère’s stylistic journey through the decades: the Egyptian revival of the early 20th century, the bold silhouettes of the 1980s, and today’s contemporary interpretations.

Behind-the-scenes craftsmanship took center stage as well — from the wax sculptures that form the basis of every jewel to the intricate “fur-setting” techniques combining diamonds, sapphires, and onyx. Visitors also witnessed the mechanical artistry behind Panthère timepieces.

The finale was an installation by artist Clare Celeste — an expansive paper jungle filled with hand-crafted tropical flora. Hidden within the immersive landscape were showcases featuring Cartier’s menagerie: not only panthers but crocodiles, birds, giraffes, and zebras rendered in precious stones.
