Demna reimagines Gucci in Pre-Fall 2026: 90s vibes, minimalism, and refined basics

After his bold, statement-making silhouettes at Balenciaga, Demna takes a strikingly different approach in his second collection for Gucci. Pre-Fall 2026 draws inspiration from the ’90s and Tom Ford’s era, showcased on a bare runway with dramatic lighting that casts sharp shadows.

American model Alex Consani opens the lookbook in a pale pink tailored suit, pairing a fitted blazer with ultra-slim trousers. The collection continues with sharply cut, classic ensembles for both men and women, accented by understated denim and turtleneck pieces.

Demna emphasizes casual, almost “basic” Gucci elements. The lineup features long suede and leather coats, biker jackets with the brand’s signature red-green stripes, and minimalist blousons. Men’s looks favor simple tanks, contrasting with the oversized XL tees that previously defined Demna’s approach.

Classic Gucci patterns, including florals, are presented with restraint. Lightweight dresses feature vintage prints from the ’70s and ’80s, while a men’s satin robe is adorned with a burgundy tie-inspired motif.

Animal motifs, including snake and leopard prints, appear throughout, alongside luxurious furs such as a voluminous white coat seamlessly paired with neutral outfits.

Leather accessories and footwear remain central. Pointed-toe designs with signature hardware appear on ballet flats, shoes, and mules. Handbags range from ultra-mini styles like the Jackie 1961 and Ophidia to spacious travel-ready models, completing the refined yet contemporary Gucci vision.
