“The Devil Wears Prada 2” inspires Pantone’s Fall 2026 palette for NYFW

For its Fall 2026 color report for New York Fashion Week, Pantone drew inspiration from the highly anticipated film The Devil Wears Prada 2, reports WWD.

"Looking at the first images from the film, you immediately notice the mix of seasonally neutral tones and strong 'power colors,'" says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. "There are also unexpected combinations we didn’t see in the first movie. People are noticing the colors that surround them in fashion and film."

A Palette with Personality

This season, Pantone combines vintage-inspired muted shades with bold accent colors. Key hues include:

Muted Clay (16-1330): A soft, slightly faded tone, as if pulled from an old wardrobe.

Neptune Green (14-6017): A retro green that enlivens earthy neutrals.

Festival Fuchsia (19-2434): Bright and celebratory for daring pops of color.

Red Mahogany (19-1521): A deep reddish-brown perfect for layering and mixing.

All Aboard (17-4140): A pure, dynamic blue to energize fall looks.

Toffee (18-1031) & Candied Ginger (15-1213): Versatile neutrals ideal for layering.

Eiseman emphasizes that many of these colors are timeless, seamlessly working in both classic and modern styles. "White is still white — it will always be relevant," she adds.

Vintage Aesthetic Meets Modern Accents

The palette evokes the charm of second-hand fashion: softly faded fabrics, vintage textures, and antique tones are paired with metallic details, creating a striking contrast of strength and elegance.

New York Fashion Week 2026 promises to be visually rich, with colors inspired by the cult fashion film serving as a key guide for designers and brands.

"We’re seeing a continued trend toward personal style and expressive details. These colors let women create looks that tell their own story," Eiseman concludes.
