Hollywood celebrated a new legend this week as Michelle Yeoh, 64, was honored with her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actress, known for her role in Wicked, struggled to hold back tears, wiping her eyes in front of fans and colleagues during the emotional ceremony.

In her speech, Yeoh thanked her family and revealed that her husband, Jean Todt, was unable to attend as he is currently in India. With a smile, she joked that he had “gotten permission” to miss the big moment.

The most touching part of Yeoh’s speech was dedicated to her parents. She fondly remembered her late father, Yeoh Kian Teik, who passed away in 2014, and her 97-year-old mother, Janet. “Dad, I know you’re looking down at me. Mom, you’re still praying for my success. This is our star,” she said, visibly moved.

Yeoh also shared a personal reflection: as a young girl in Malaysia, she once gazed at a bright star in the sky and dreamed of following it. “And now one star — it’s right under my feet,” she said to the applause of the crowd.

For the event, Yeoh dazzled in a bright yellow dress paired with silver heels, completing her look with a diamond bracelet and white watch.

Among those who came to celebrate were acclaimed directors Ang Lee and Jon M. Chu, showing their admiration for the actress’s career.

Yeoh and Todt tied the knot in Geneva in 2023 after nearly 20 years together. Though her husband could not be present for the Hollywood ceremony, Yeoh made it clear that true support is always by her side — even if not on the red carpet.
