The iconic western, which first premiered in October 1960, is being reimagined as a new dramatic series, with Hollywood veteran Matt Dillon stepping into the role of Chris Adams.

The original story follows seven skilled gunmen hired by desperate villagers to protect their town from ruthless bandits. In this updated version, Dillon, now 62, will lead the team of mercenaries facing off against a brutal landowner determined to seize the villagers’ land.

The series is written and produced by Tim Kring, promising a modern take that honors the legacy of the classic film.

Filming is scheduled for this summer in Calgary, Canada. MGM+ states that the show will blend the heritage of the original movie with timely themes of courage, redemption, and the fight against injustice, with Dillon’s character serving as the heart of the story.

The series will be available worldwide, including in the U.S., U.K., Spain, Germany, and Italy.
