Love triangles aren’t uncommon: two friends fall for the same person, and that person reciprocates. But in Thailand’s Buriram province, things went to a whole new level. On February 28, 37-year-old Duangduen Kesaro, known as Kik, married two foreign men in a single ceremony — marking the province’s first-ever “triple wedding.”

Kik, a former independent singer and songwriter, tied the knot with Roman, a retired Austrian police officer, and Maggie, an active-duty Austrian officer. The ceremony followed local traditions in a modest yet festive setting.

Previously, Kik was married to a Thai man, with whom she has three children. After a challenging family life and an unfulfilled singing career, she moved to Pattaya to support her parents, three daughters, and two grandchildren.

It was there that she met Roman, who had traveled from Austria. Their romance lasted five years, during which they lived together as husband and wife. Later, Roman’s friend Maggie visited Thailand, fell in love with Kik, and began a relationship with her. Roman was aware of Kik’s feelings for his friend and did not object, as he and Maggie had a cordial relationship. After a year of dating, the trio decided to formalize their union with marriage.

Despite the unusual nature of the marriage, Kik’s parents and children supported the triple wedding.

Sang Thon district mayor Tianyu Luandecanutrak, who attended the ceremony, remarked, “I have seen many weddings, but never a Thai woman marrying two men at once. I congratulate the newlyweds and wish them a long and happy life together.”
