12:16 30 March, 2026At 95 years old, Rosalie Julian has become a social media sensation — all thanks to her daughter’s golden retrievers, Risky and Peach, affectionately dubbed her “granddogs.”
The Instagram account @riskyandthegiantpeach is run by Rosalie’s daughter, Suzanne Shineller, who shares heartwarming and funny clips of her mother interacting with the dogs. In a short time, the videos have earned Rosalie over 70,000 followers, with fans around the world charmed by her natural warmth and kindness.
“I’m a little overwhelmed when people call me an ‘influencer.’ I’m just a person,” Julian says humbly, admitting her newfound fame took her by surprise.
Suzanne explains that the first video — featuring her mother speaking to the dogs in a melodic tone — quickly went viral, delighting viewers.
“People fell in love with my mom. She’s funny, has a Boston accent, and she almost can’t do anything wrong,” Suzanne shares.
Rosalie Julian is the mother of four adult children, grandmother to two granddaughters, and, as she jokingly puts it, grandma to two “dog grandchildren.” A lifelong Massachusetts resident, she grew up surrounded by animals and has always adored dogs. Even at 95, she drives, keeps active, and spends plenty of time with Risky and Peach.
“People write things like, ‘Grandma makes me smile even on the darkest days. Thank you for sharing her and making the world brighter.’ It really creates a community around my mom and the dogs,” Suzanne adds.
Despite the attention, Rosalie remains modest. “I find it a little awkward because I’m just a person. But I take it as a compliment. I’m very lucky,” she says.
