Oscar-winning director Michael Moore slammed the United States for its actions toward Iran, calling the country “villainous” while hailing Iran as one of the world’s “great civilizations.”

In a post on social media, Moore labeled President Donald Trump a “terrorist” after the U.S. leader threatened Iran with “holocaust-like” destruction, claiming the entire Iranian civilization could be wiped out if the country did not agree to a ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Moore accused the U.S. of decades of interference in Iran’s internal affairs. “Our leaders and media are foolish enough to ask: ‘Why do they hate us?’ They don’t hate us! WE hate them!” he wrote.

“We are the villains! If you didn’t realize this under previous presidents, Trump at least tore off the mask and showed you who we really are,” Moore added. He also called the United States “the only nation sick and cruel enough to use nuclear weapons.”

Highlighting Iran’s historical significance, Moore praised the country as “the cradle of one of the greatest civilizations ever.” He noted that while European ancestors were still learning to build huts, Persians had written the first declaration of human rights, created a multicultural empire, advanced mathematics and medicine, and gifted the world algebra, medicine, and even the musical theme to Game of Thrones.

Moore stressed that despite modern-day repression and censorship, Iran continues to produce some of the world’s most acclaimed filmmakers. Meanwhile, he criticized U.S. interventions, stating: “America has been interfering with and attacking Iran since 1953.”

The director called on the U.S. military to defy what he described as “illegal and immoral” orders, urged Congress to impeach Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and demanded that the 25th Amendment be used to remove Trump from office.

“NO ONE WILL SAVE US,” Moore wrote emphatically. “WE MUST DO THIS OURSELVES.”
