12:19 4 June, 2026The former wife of Ralf Schumacher has made a veiled remark aimed at him following the release of wedding photos showing the ex-F1 driver and his partner.
The former Formula 1 racer and brother of legendary Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher married Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne in Saint-Tropez over the weekend. The 50-year-old Ralf and 36-year-old Etienne tied the knot just 19 months after Schumacher publicly came out. His ex-wife Cora, while formally wishing the couple well, did not miss the opportunity to take a subtle swipe at the newlyweds.

Ralf was married to Cora from 2001 to 2015. He publicly announced his sexuality and relationship with French partner Etienne in July 2024.
Ahead of the wedding, Cora told German tabloid BILD: “People usually say: true love always finds its way. Well, in some cases it just takes a little longer for everyone on the racetrack to finally understand which direction the race is going. Nevertheless, I wish you all the best for your wedding.”
Her remark about “which direction the race is going” was widely interpreted as a reference to her ex-husband’s sexuality, with whom she was married for 14 years and has a son, David.
Relations between the former spouses have been extremely strained since Ralf’s coming out. At one point, Cora even publicly burned her wedding dress and later said she wanted to be left in peace to “heal,” claiming she had “wasted her best years.” Although tensions have eased slightly, the two remain far from friendly.

New photos from the wedding show a three-day luxury celebration, from the civil ceremony to an extravagant party.
At the town hall in Saint-Tropez, both men wore dark blue suits with light blue ties. Ralf’s 24-year-old son David served as best man, while Etienne was accompanied by his mother, Hélène.

The ceremony itself was intimate, attended only by close friends and family. After the official part, the couple took a boat trip across the Saint-Tropez bay on a speedboat previously owned by Elton John.
For the evening reception, the couple changed into white outfits, a dress code also followed by guests. The highlight of the evening was the first dance and the cutting of a giant wedding cake surrounded by sparklers and towers of macarons, held at an exclusive yacht club on the French Riviera.
It is reported that the relationship and wedding preparations are being documented by Sky Germany for a reality documentary.

In the show, the couple spoke openly about their romance. “I fell in love at first sight,” said Etienne, while Ralf joked: “It took me a little longer.”
Etienne also admitted the early stages were not easy: “I sent him two, three, no, even five messages, but I never got a reply.” The couple officially went public with their relationship in July 2024. The documentary even includes scenes of both men receiving Botox injections ahead of their big day.

Michael Schumacher raced in Formula 1 for 11 seasons until 2007, winning six Grands Prix. He has remained out of the public eye since a severe skiing accident in 2013, with his family closely guarding details about his condition.
