Jeff Bezos Heavily Mocked Online for "Fake Phone Calls" During Outing with Wife Lauren Sánchez

Jeff Bezos is undoubtedly a very busy businessman, but is he really tackling critical work matters every single time he catches the paparazzi's eye.

The Amazon founder has found himself at the center of a new conspiracy theory: social media users have noticed that the billionaire practically refuses to put his phone down during a trip to Paris with his wife, Lauren Sánchez. A theory is rapidly gaining traction online that Bezos is simply faking his phone conversations to avoid awkward interactions with passersby.

On June 14, Bezos' device was practically glued to his ear during a daytime outing with his wife. The tech mogul stepped out of a chauffeured car looking completely absorbed in a conversation. Meanwhile, Lauren Sánchez exited the vehicle first and walked slightly ahead of her husband, rocking a black midi vest dress and wedge sandals for the stroll.

Later that evening, Bezos was spotted with his phone to his ear yet again as the couple headed out for a romantic dinner at the Grand Palais. While the billionaire continued his never-ending call, his better half arrived at the restaurant separately. Lauren instantly turned heads, turning up in a vintage Christian Dior dress by John Galliano from the Spring 2001 collection.

Social media users are convinced they have called Bezos' bluff. The online frenzy was sparked by a few videos shared by French reporter Amar Taoualit, capturing the billionaire animatedly talking on his mobile along the streets of Paris.

In the comments section below the video, sharp-eyed viewers immediately started sharing their theories:

"He is definitely not talking to anyone on that phone! It’s the classic trick we all use when we don't want to see anybody," one user wrote.
