A former Mexican government official found herself at the center of global attention during the national team’s World Cup matches—and she even had to issue an official statement to cool down her newfound fanbase.

Sandra Cuevas, the former mayor of Mexico City’s Cuauhtémoc borough, has been thoroughly enjoying the triumphant start of the Mexican national team ("El Tri") at the tournament. The country is riding a massive wave of euphoria following decisive victories over South Africa and South Korea.

However, internet users were drawn not only to the players' success but also to the politician's incredibly bold outfit choice while supporting the team. After photos of Cuevas instantly went viral, she had to personally address the raging online debate surrounding her ample bust. "Well, guys, what can I do? I can't just cut them off," Cuevas said, as quoted by The Sun. "I don't take it as an insult. Of course, there will always be those who judge with bias or in a derogatory tone, but that's just our Mexican mentality."

Sizzling Support in the Stands

In the photos spreading like wildfire across social media, the 40-year-old Cuevas is pictured wearing a snow-white tank top with an extremely plunging neckline. Instead of wearing the patriotic green Mexico jersey, the former mayor opted to tie it around her waist while spending the day celebrating with other jubilant fans.

Sandra Cuevas previously governed Cuauhtémoc—one of the key and most densely populated districts of Mexico City—from October 2021 to March 2024.

According to media reports, Cuevas currently serves as a coordinator for the "Mexico Nuevo" (New Mexico) political movement.
