Michelle Obama Reveals the Secret Behind Her Strong Marriage to Barack Obama

After more than three decades together, Michelle Obama has opened up about the secret to her lasting marriage with former U.S. President Barack Obama. According to the former first lady, it was her husband who encouraged her to dream bigger and believe in her own potential.

In an interview with People, Michelle admitted that her life might have looked very different without Barack by her side.

“I think I would have lived a much smaller, quieter life. I probably wouldn’t have taken so many chances,” she said. “He pushed me to see beyond what I thought was possible. He made me realize that with a Harvard degree, I could be anything I wanted, not just a lawyer. He gave me courage. He always said, ‘I’ve got you.’”

Michelle said that unwavering support gave her the confidence to make some of the biggest decisions of her life and keep moving forward, even when she was afraid.

Barack Obama, for his part, said it has always been his wife who keeps him grounded and helps him maintain perspective.

“She makes me a better person. From the moment I met her, I knew she was someone extraordinary, with incredible values, intelligence and strength of character,” the former president said.

The couple has never hidden the fact that their marriage has faced challenges over the years. Michelle has previously revealed that they attended couples therapy, explaining that a strong marriage requires constant effort rather than simply sustaining itself.

Barack and Michelle Obama met in the late 1980s while working at a Chicago law firm and married in 1992. They are now parents to two daughters, Malia and Sasha, and remain one of the world's most admired and influential couples.
