Ordered Hit Live on Stream: Narco Boss Murdered TikToker After Split from His Son

Special forces in Mexico have arrested Ramón Ángel Álvarez Ayala, known by the alias "R1"—one of the high-ranking leaders of the powerful and brutal Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The crime boss faces charges of orchestrating high-profile assassinations, including the live-streamed murder of beauty influencer Valeria Márquez and the assassination of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo.

The arrest took place in downtown Atotonilco el Alto, in the state of Jalisco. The leader of the "Los Rs" faction has since been transferred to the high-security Altiplano prison—the very same facility from which "El Chapo" made his daring escape in 2015.

Revenge for a Breakup and an Ultimatum to the Mayor

Mexico’s Secretary of Security and Civilian Protection, Omar García Harfuch, revealed shocking details behind the two main high-profile crimes orchestrated by "R1":

• The Live-Streamed Femicide: Valeria Márquez, a 23-year-old TikToker and beauty salon owner, was shot dead while broadcasting live on social media. A hitman burst into her salon, confirmed her identity, and opened fire. Investigators established that the hit was requested by the cartel boss’s son, Francisco Álvarez, after Márquez broke up with him. The son asked his father to "eliminate" his ex-girlfriend.

• The Mayor's Assassination: In November 2025, during a Day of the Dead festival, 40-year-old Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo—who had been advocating for aggressive crackdowns on cartels—was shot and killed. "R1" served as the primary organizer and mastermind behind the hit.

"We have every reason to believe—and this will be proven in court—that it was the son who asked his father, 'R1', to commit this femicide," stated Omar García Harfuch.

While the cartel leader’s son and the gunman who executed the blogger remain at large, law enforcement has already arrested 31 individuals in connection with the mayor's murder.
