11:41 7 August, 2026Martha Stewart didn't mince words when she was recently asked about her ex-husband, Andy Stewart.
"He's a jerk," the 85-year-old lifestyle mogul bluntly stated about her former spouse.

Martha was married to the publisher from 1961 to 1987. Their divorce was finalized in 1990. The couple shared one child together, a daughter named Alexis Stewart, who is now 60 years old.
Martha covered her nearly 30-year marriage, including mutual infidelities and the subsequent breakdown of the relationship, in detail in her 2024 Netflix autobiographical documentary.
In the film, Martha admitted to having an affair with a "handsome Irishman" and also accused Andy of infidelity himself. When asked by People whether her ex-husband had reached out to her after the documentary's release, the entrepreneur replied with characteristic sarcasm: "Only in a legal sense—to remind me of the terms of the divorce settlement, which I never read. I mean, who cared after two years of fighting over property? I still haven't read it."

In the film, Martha also offered some advice to young women: "Young women, listen to my advice: if you're married and your husband starts cheating on you—he's scum. Get out of that marriage."
When the producer asked if she had cheated herself early in the relationship, Martha smiled and replied, "Yes, but I don't think Andy ever knew about it." Later at a book event, she joked that keeping a 30-year-old affair secret was "very easy—you just have to be discreet."

Martha noted that her personal life remains active today.
"I have a very, very busy—maybe even too busy!—life. I go on... I don't know if you can call them dates, but I go out," she teased.
At the same time, she added that a permanent partner isn't quite as important at her age. "The older you get, the less you actually need a life partner. I wouldn't want to be burdened with an elderly, sick person."

Martha also admitted to having experience dating younger men. "I've been there. Done that, seen that. I have plenty of friends. I am not a lonely person."
On August 3, the culinary expert and author of 102 books celebrated her 85th birthday surrounded by friends in Maine.
