Abandoned Robbie Williams robot terrifies local residents

A colossal robot towers over the English countryside, left unattended on the former estate of British pop star Robbie Williams. The eerie sight is terrifying unsuspecting locals who accidentally stumble upon it in the woods, The Post writes.

The mechanical giant, dubbed "Om" by locals, was once the centerpiece of a grand $20 million stage production. This set piece was created for the reunion of the iconic British boy band Take That, of which Williams is the frontman.

The animatronic titan debuted during the band's massive Progress world tour in 2011. The scale of the production rivaled shows by American legends like NSYNC or the Backstreet Boys.

Robbie Williams, one of the UK's best-selling solo artists, once owned this sprawling seven-bedroom estate in the village of Compton Bassett, Wiltshire. Today, the singer has settled in Florida, where he recently purchased a luxurious waterfront estate in Coral Gables for $40 million.

However, when Williams sold the Wiltshire property, the 60-foot (18-meter) robot was left behind, quietly rusting among the trees.

Now, the abandoned robot has turned into a local landmark with a mystical aura.

Drivers and dog walkers repeatedly stop in surprise upon spotting the massive figure peering out from the foliage.

Local resident Sarah Spencer admitted that her first glimpse of the robot made her turn back to ensure what she was seeing was real. "It caught me off guard, but it intrigued me. I thought someone had built a Wicker Man," she shared.

Another resident, Liz Neve, noted that due to its location, the robot literally "grows out of nowhere" right by the road, and as the car moves, it seems to vanish back into the branches.

Neither Robbie Williams nor representatives of the estate have yet commented on why the giant prop was never removed or whether anyone plans to clear it from the forest.
