Dancing with a Plunger in His Hands: Justin Trudeau Puts on a Bizarre Show with Katy Perry

Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau put on a rather unusual dance performance at a hardware store in Montreal. The politician was holding a plunger, while his girlfriend, pop star Katy Perry, filmed the whole thing.

The impromptu dance routine began after the store started playing “Downtown,” a song by Trudeau’s son Xavier, who performs under the stage name Xav.

Judging by the video, Trudeau decided not to miss the opportunity to show off his best “dad dance” moves. He shuffled from side to side, swayed his hips and waved the plunger around like a conductor’s baton while singing along to the song.

“We’re at the Home Hardware on Saint-Laurent,” Trudeau said in the video.

Katy Perry then turned the camera toward herself, energetically nodding her head and dancing between the store aisles.

Store employee Kevin Pereira told the Montreal Gazette that the celebrity couple’s appearance was completely unexpected.

“They just happened to walk in together, with one security guard who stayed by the entrance,” he said.

According to Pereira, Trudeau and Perry spent around 45 minutes shopping.

The dancing video was posted by Xavier Trudeau. The clip quickly attracted attention on Instagram, although reactions were mixed. Some commenters criticized the former prime minister, arguing that his carefree behavior was out of touch with the economic situation Canada has faced, in their view, after his nine years in power.

“He’s acting like he didn’t spend years running an entire country into the ground. Completely out of touch with reality. While Canadians are struggling to feed their families,” one angry user wrote, adding a joke about where Trudeau could “stick that plunger.”

Another user asked: “Justin, do you really have to keep embarrassing Canadians? Weren’t nine years as a WOKE prime minister enough?”

Others, however, chose to support Trudeau’s son while still taking a jab at his father.

“Good for your son! Too bad you turned Canada into a complete clown show,” one commenter wrote.
