Immortality-Obsessed Millionaire Has Never Shared a Bed With His Girlfriend: The Bed Is for Sex Only

In a video posted on social media, the immortality-obsessed mogul explained why they have chosen to sleep separately and shared what science has to say about the practice.

Johnson, who previously described himself as an “impossible partner,” was asked whether people should share a bed with the person they love. He admitted that he has never done so himself.

“Kate and I have separate beds and separate homes,” he said.

Later, in a post on X, he clarified that the only thing he and Tolo do in bed together is have sex — a statement that is perhaps unsurprising given his previous public boasts about his girlfriend’s supposedly perfect anatomy.

His reasoning? Sleeping next to a partner can lead to frequent awakenings and disruptions, while sleep is a crucial factor in longevity. Poor-quality sleep, he argues, can accelerate biological aging.

Johnson cited a 2020 study involving 55 couples, which found that participants woke up an average of around six times a night because of their partner’s movements or sounds.

However, even the man dubbed the “immortality uncle” acknowledges that the scientific evidence is mixed. Another study involving 12 heterosexual couples found that sharing a bed increased REM sleep by 10% and promoted greater synchronization between partners’ sleep cycles.

Sleep data also varies by sex: women tend to sleep worse when sharing a bed with a man, while men, on the other hand, may sleep better when sharing a bed with a female partner.

Nevertheless, sharing a bed may ultimately have its benefits. Johnson pointed to the results of a 2022 survey of 1,000 adult couples, which found that those who slept together subjectively rated their sleep as better, reported less insomnia and fatigue, and experienced greater mental stability.

“Perhaps happier and healthier people are simply more likely to sleep together in the first place,” Johnson concluded.

When asked whether people should sleep alone or snuggle up under the same blanket with their significant other, the biohacker said it ultimately comes down to the individual couple.

“For some couples, sleeping together improves their rest,” Johnson said. “For others, separate beds can save their sleep or their relationship. And possibly both.”

And while the couple has no plans to share a bed anytime soon, Johnson apparently has something very personal from Tolo close at hand: a portion of her menstrual blood is stored in his freezer.
