North West, the 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, has revealed that despite her rapidly developing music career, she wants to take on a very ordinary job next year — working as a barista at Starbucks.
In an interview with Dazed, North opened up about her unexpected career ambition.
“I still want to work. I want to work at Starbucks or something next year,” she said. According to the teenager, she will turn 14 next year and believes she will be old enough to get a job.
The reason behind her unusual plan is surprisingly simple: North wants to experience life as a normal teenager.
“I want a normal job,” she explained.
However, North has no intention of giving up music for a part-time job at a coffee shop. She also disagrees with those who think she should put her music career on hold until she is older.
“No, it’s my hobby. I like doing it, and that’s what I want to do with my life,” she said.
North’s music career is already gaining momentum. On May 1, she released her debut EP, N0rth4vr, and on August 7, she unveiled a music video for her song “Aishite.” In June, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s daughter also made her debut solo performance at the Summer Smash festival.
Meanwhile, some of North’s other creative interests have taken a back seat. She revealed that she used to enjoy drawing, particularly sunsets.
“I draw sometimes for fun, but the paint I use always gets on my hands — like oil paint. It’s really hard to wash off,” she said.
Despite growing up under constant public scrutiny, North says she enjoys many of the same things as other teenagers. She is an active user of TikTok and Pinterest, where she likes creating mood boards with ideas for manicures and hairstyles.
