Billionaire at Center of Record $6.2 Billion Divorce Claims He Never Undressed or Had Sex With His Girlfriend

A New Jersey financial tycoon at the center of what is reportedly the largest and most expensive divorce case in the state’s history is making some unusual claims about his personal life.

According to newly released police body-camera footage, 56-year-old billionaire John Overdeck said he and his new romantic partner were “just dating” and insisted that they had never had sex — or even undressed in front of each other.

Police Body-Camera Footage

The incident was captured on video in October 2023, when Millburn police were called to the Overdeck family’s mansion. Less than a year earlier, John’s wife, Laura, had filed for divorce, seeking a staggering $6.2 billion settlement.

Speaking to officers outside his bachelor pad, Overdeck described his companion as “a little volatile” and explained the unusual nature of their relationship.

“We have a romantic relationship, but we have never had sex,” he told police on camera. He added that the woman had keys to his apartment and that they saw each other a couple of times a week, but insisted they had “never taken our clothes off” around one another.

Police were called after John canceled dinner plans with the woman. Furious, she drove to his roughly 600-square-meter mansion and vented her anger to officers.

“He’s just using me and trying to keep me quiet so I don’t damage his reputation. It’s been two years — I’ve been silent,” she told police.

Wife Arrives at the Scene

As the confrontation unfolded, 56-year-old Laura Overdeck arrived at the property. She demanded that officers remove her “toxic husband and his girlfriend,” saying she could no longer tolerate the situation.

When officers suggested that the circumstances appeared complicated, Laura claimed she had “receipts” and “evidence” contradicting her husband’s insistence that there had been no intimacy between him and the other woman.

John told police that his companion had become furious after he canceled their dinner because he had decided to spend the evening with his son.

After hearing out the tangled love triangle, one officer offered the classic line, “It’s a story as old as time,” while another advised the billionaire to simply end the relationship.

What’s at Stake in Court?

The stakes in the divorce are astronomical. Laura Overdeck is seeking a 35 percent stake in her former husband’s hedge fund, Two Sigma. John had previously offered her more than $600 million as part of a proposed settlement.

The couple never signed a prenuptial agreement during their more than 20 years of marriage.

Their legal battle, including ongoing depositions and court proceedings, continues in family court in Newark.
