Hermès Weaves Silk Threads Into the Dials of Its New Arceau Watches

Hermès continues its exploration of the world of decorative arts with the launch of the Arceau Cheval Natté, a limited-edition timepiece collection that quite literally brings silk into the art of watchmaking.

The motif, originally created by designer Tong Ren for interior objects, has been reimagined for the dial of the Arceau. Nearly 400 silk threads are meticulously arranged by hand to form a geometric silhouette of a horse’s head. The result is a dynamic composition that plays with light, depth and texture, embodying Hermès’ signature tradition of combining its equestrian heritage with bold artisanal craftsmanship.

The watches are available in two executions:

• A vibrant version — luminous and rich in vivid, saturated hues;
• A dark version — rendered in deep shades of black, red and brown.

Both dials are embellished with 123 diamonds and intricate champlevé engraving, creating a sophisticated dialogue between the texture of the silk and the brilliance of the gemstones. The dial is housed in a 38mm rose-gold case, with a bezel set with 70 diamonds, while the crown is topped with a single large diamond.

Technical excellence

Visible through the transparent, anti-reflective sapphire crystal caseback is Hermès’ H1912 automatic manufacture movement. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, offers a 50-hour power reserve and is decorated with the fashion house’s signature interlocking H motif.

Each version of the Arceau Cheval Natté is strictly limited to 24 pieces.

The exclusive timepieces are priced at $95,200.
