“Shut Up and Take My Money”: Dyson’s $499 AI Toothbrush Unexpectedly Becomes a Viral Hit

Artificial intelligence has firmly entered almost every part of modern life — from career prospects and privacy concerns to conversations about climate change. But Dyson may have just proved that AI has one application that can genuinely get people excited.

The company has unveiled a new AI-powered electric toothbrush.

Yes, you read that correctly.

The CameraJet is the first electric toothbrush to feature an actual camera built directly into its brush head. It can stream video from inside your mouth to your smartphone, allowing you to literally see exactly where you are brushing — and which areas you are missing.

But perhaps the most attention-grabbing feature isn't the camera itself. It's Dyson’s high-tech machine-learning algorithm, which was trained on a database of 470,000 images, according to The Independent.

In other words, artificial intelligence has now made its way quite literally into our mouths.

The built-in macro camera, with a resolution of 100,000 pixels, analyzes up to 28 images per second. The algorithm identifies areas between the teeth that need extra attention and then automatically activates the built-in flossing system.

And according to Dyson, there is no need to worry about privacy: the images are not stored.

The toothbrush is also designed to be gentle on the gums and tooth enamel. Its interdental-cleaning system can deliver a precise jet of water under pressure in just 0.1 seconds.

Who would have thought that the humble manual toothbrush would eventually evolve into a device capable of filming inside your mouth and making decisions with the help of artificial intelligence?

$499 for a Toothbrush — and Buyers Still Want It

The CameraJet doesn't come cheap: it costs $499 in the US and £420 in the UK.

Despite the eye-watering price tag, social media reactions suggest Dyson may have struck gold.

Images of the toothbrush in pink and blue have racked up more than 9 million views in just 24 hours.

Social media users who are normally skeptical of expensive, seemingly unnecessary tech gadgets suddenly appeared more than willing to reach for their bank cards.

“This is what we all thought AI was supposed to be used for,” one user wrote.

Another admitted it was the “fastest way to spend $500.”

“I usually criticize tech products that seem completely unnecessary. But dental care is expensive. I’m going to buy one,” another commenter declared.

And a fourth user simply wrote:

“Shut up and take my money.”

Dyson may already be preparing for a shopping frenzy. If interest in the CameraJet continues, the bizarre high-tech toothbrush could have all the makings of one of the most coveted tech gifts of the Christmas season.
