Teri Hatcher to become the new Miranda Priestly: Desperate Housewives star takes over the runway in The Devil Wears Prada

Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher is set to take on one of the most ruthless roles in the fashion world — Miranda Priestly in the London stage musical The Devil Wears Prada.

The 61-year-old actress will join the West End production from October 20, taking over from Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award nominee Vanessa Williams, who will perform as Miranda for the final time on September 19 at the Dominion Theatre.

“I’ve been incredibly lucky to play some truly strong and powerful women throughout my career, but few can compare with MIRANDA PRIESTLY. I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining The Devil Wears Prada in the West End,” Hatcher said.

The actress admitted that she was particularly drawn to the character of the legendary fashion editor. Hatcher described Miranda as an intelligent and powerful woman who can put anyone in their place — while delivering it all with her trademark sense of humor.

“Her lines are impossible to forget, and her confidence is infectious. These are exactly the kinds of roles I want to play,” the actress said.

Hatcher added that she is eagerly looking forward to bringing Miranda’s sharp wit, ambition, steely personality and iconic style to the stage for audiences.
