Elon Musk Wanted Children “Before the Civil War” and Offered $40 Million for Silence: Shocking Claims by His Former Partner

Elon Musk is using his social media platform X to sow “deliberate division” in society, with potentially catastrophic consequences if the platform is not regulated. That is according to Ashley St. Clair, the billionaire’s former partner and the mother of one of his 14 officially acknowledged children, as reported by The Guardian.

St. Clair spoke at the Venice Film Festival, where director Alex Gibney’s documentary Musk premiered. According to the former MAGA supporter, Musk once sent her a message explaining why he wanted to have a child with her. His reasoning was anything but conventional: the billionaire said he needed a “legion of children before the civil war.”

St. Clair and Musk welcomed a son in 2024, but the couple later split.

According to St. Clair, Musk’s representatives offered her a one-time payment of $40 million, along with $100,000 in monthly support, in exchange for signing a non-disclosure agreement. After she refused to sign, however, the offer was withdrawn.

“They offered me $40 million to stay silent,” she said.

St. Clair said the offer made her reflect on the value of her own voice.

“When someone offers you that kind of money, you start arguing with yourself about what your speech means and how valuable it really is. Why would they want to offer me that much money not to speak?” she said.

St. Clair added that, in her view, one of Musk’s biggest problems is his relationship with the truth.

“He has complicated relationships with people, but his most complicated relationship is with the truth,” she said.

Ultimately, St. Clair stressed, it was more important to her to set an example for her children that material well-being should never take precedence over telling the truth.

“I want to set an example for my children: you should never put material comfort above telling the truth.”

At the film’s Venice premiere, St. Clair was asked whether her former partner was genuinely afraid of a civil war or whether he was actually trying to provoke one himself.

“Either way, what is happening on X cannot be ignored because he is fanning the flames of something that does not exist in the real world,” she said.

According to the former Donald Trump supporter, Musk’s activity on the social network is already having real-world consequences beyond the internet.

“He is creating something that, because of everything happening on X, is leading to real-world consequences,” St. Clair said, adding that she now regrets her previous political activism.

“I really believe that he is deliberately provoking division that could have catastrophic consequences if it is not regulated and stopped, or if we do not all do everything we can to put an end to it,” she stressed.

Director Alex Gibney, who has previously made documentaries about Enron, Vladimir Putin and the US military, believes Musk’s obsession with the collapse of civilization may be linked to his childhood in South Africa.

“His childhood was very difficult and traumatic. To some extent, he is now projecting that trauma onto all of us — if you allow yourself to take a psychoanalytic view of the situation,” Gibney said in Venice.

The four-hour documentary, which Gibney spent three years making, charts Musk’s meteoric rise — from a young entrepreneur in the tech world to an engineer and businessman selling rockets and electric cars, before eventually becoming a MAGA supporter.

According to Gibney, Musk’s story turned out to be far more complicated than another tale of a successful tech entrepreneur.

“I realized that Musk’s story is not a new story about technology. It is old wine in a new bottle. Ultimately, it is the story of a con man and someone who inflates the value of stocks. His wealth and power come from inflating the value of stocks,” the director said.
