Nevada’s Famous Brothels Hit the Market for $33.9 Million

Three of America’s most famous brothels are officially looking for a new owner.

The trio of legal Nevada brothels once owned by the late pimp and politician Dennis Hof has hit the market with a staggering $33.9 million asking price, the New York Post reports.

The deal, dubbed the Bunny Ranch Legacy Portfolio and being offered by Hof’s heirs, bundles three notorious establishments along with extensive tracts of desert land near Nevada’s capital, Carson City.

Marketed as a “nationally recognized Nevada enterprise,” the portfolio includes:

• the world-famous Moonlite Bunny Ranch;
• Sagebrush Ranch;
• Love Ranch.

In addition to the brothel properties themselves, the deal includes residential real estate, highway-front parcels, warehouses, outbuildings and development land. Altogether, the portfolio comprises 11 separate properties spanning roughly 20 hectares, with more than 23,500 square feet of commercial space.

The new owner will also receive the furniture, equipment, corporate vehicle fleet, inventory and intellectual property, including the recognizable trade names, marketing materials, websites and branding — with some assets excluded by the seller.

The sellers are even willing to provide up to a year of transition and training support for the new owners, subject to mutually agreed terms.

The financial details, however, are being kept tightly under wraps. Prospective buyers must first sign a nondisclosure agreement and pass a qualification process.

The Crown Jewel — and the Scandals That Made Headlines

The crown jewel of the portfolio is Moonlite Bunny Ranch, located in Mound House, roughly seven miles east of Carson City.

The 7,437-square-foot property became arguably America’s most famous legal brothel under Hof, who acquired the business in 1992 and transformed it into a pop-culture phenomenon. The ranch’s notoriety came not only from its neon signs but also from HBO’s candid reality series Cathouse, which offered viewers a behind-the-scenes look at Hof’s business.

But behind the flashy scenes were some considerably darker tabloid headlines.

• In 2003, Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil was accused of assault after a Moonlite Bunny Ranch employee alleged that the musician grabbed her by the throat and threw her against a wall.
• Another Hof establishment in Nye County, the Love Ranch, became the scene of one of the most high-profile incidents associated with his businesses. In October 2015, former Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom was found unconscious there. After spending several days at the brothel, the athlete suffered a severe medical crisis, fell into a coma and fought for his life.

Dennis Hof died in October 2018 at his establishment in Nye County, just hours after a raucous party celebrating his 72nd birthday.

The Nye County property mentioned above is not included in the current sale.
