British Woman Reclaims Guinness World Record by Devouring a Burrito in 30 Seconds

A British woman has reclaimed her Guinness World Records title after demolishing a large burrito in just 30.75 seconds.

Leah Shutkever, 36, from Birmingham, already held 42 records when she set her latest world-best time. Her previous achievements include eating a Domino’s pizza in under a minute and polishing off an entire chocolate orange in just 57 seconds.

Shutkever had held the record for the fastest burrito eater for three years, since 2019, before American competitive-eating star Miki Sudo beat her in 2022 by finishing the dish in 31.47 seconds.

Determined to take back the crown, the British speed-eater headed straight to Guinness World Records headquarters in London, where she managed to shave almost a second off Sudo’s time.

But Leah’s appetite did not stop there. She went on to set two more world records in the same sitting:

Fitness, Calories and an Architecture Degree

Despite her unusual “profession,” Shutkever describes herself as a fitness enthusiast and works out almost every day to stay in shape between competitive-eating challenges.

“Fitness is my life and my identity, but competitive eating is my job, and I enjoy balancing the two,” Leah says. “I was a chubby child, but I became interested in nutrition and exercise from an early age. When it comes to food, it all comes down to a simple rule: calories in versus calories out, and everything in moderation.”

Interestingly, the record-breaker has a degree in architecture. But, by her own admission, nothing compares with the euphoria of setting a world record — a feeling she first experienced in 2019 while filming for television.

Since then, the pursuit of that high has become her calling.
