Jacob & Co. Unveils $693,000 Diamond-Set Watch: A Jewelry Masterpiece Inspired by Harlequin

Jacob & Co. has unveiled the Brilliant Flying Tourbillon Baguette Pastel Arlequino — a unique timepiece produced as a one-of-a-kind piece that combines the achievements of high watchmaking with the luxury of fine jewelry design.

The model’s key innovation is a feature the manufacturer describes as a world first: the watch’s balance is adorned with 54 round-cut diamonds. As the movement operates, they create a radiant halo around the balance. The balance oscillates at 21,600 vibrations per hour while rotating alongside the flying tourbillon. The technical concept revisits a largely forgotten chapter in watchmaking history and demonstrates that gemstones can be integrated directly into a movement’s regulating organ without compromising its precision.

The watch’s appearance is equally bold. A total of 366 pastel sapphires and white diamonds are invisibly set into the 42mm white-gold case, dial, crown and clasp. Rather than creating a smooth gradation of colors, the stones are deliberately arranged in contrasting shades.

The design is inspired by the costume of Harlequin, one of the most recognizable characters of the Italian commedia dell’arte. Lavender sits alongside pink, while green meets blue, creating a vivid yet harmonious composition.

At just 11.61mm thick, the model offers a more compact interpretation of the watches in the Brilliant collection while retaining the dramatic and daring aesthetic characteristic of Jacob & Co.

The watch is powered by the automatic Jacob & Co. JCFA02 caliber, featuring a micro-rotor and flying tourbillon. The movement provides up to 72 hours of power reserve. Its bridges are set with an additional 234 round-cut diamonds, complementing the jewel-set balance. The movement is finished to the exacting standards of haute horlogerie.
