Elon Musk’s Mother: ‘My Son Was a Genius at Just Three’

Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, has revealed that her son was already a genius at the age of three. The 78-year-old model and dietitian made the comments in an interview with The Telegraph.

According to Maye, Elon was already able to reason with adults and come up with practical solutions when he was just three years old.

“Three-year-olds don’t talk to you like that. I could say, ‘I’m going to buy these things,’ and he would reply, ‘Why don’t you buy this and that? It will be cheaper.’ And I would think, ‘Seriously? You’re three! What do you know?’”

Maye Musk married Elon’s father, Errol Musk, in 1970. Elon was born a year later, and the couple divorced in 1979. Later, when Elon was around 10 years old, he moved in with his father.

Maye recalls that Errol had two encyclopedias, a computer, a library and a home in a larger city. She said she could not afford a computer herself at the time.

“He says it was difficult for him, but he had a computer and books, and he really could shut himself off completely from everything else,” she said.

Today, Maye continues to publicly defend her son amid criticism directed at him. She described it as painful that, in her view, a significant portion of the coverage about Elon is negative, and said she finds threats against him particularly difficult to deal with.

“It’s horrible. It’s very hard to see most of the articles about your son being negative. It’s just unfair… and then people start threatening him with death. It’s horrible. You don’t want that for your children,” Maye said.

She added that even when there are political disagreements, it is especially difficult to watch people treat someone you love badly.

Family gatherings involving Maye, Elon, her son Kimbal and daughter Tosca now take place in remote locations. According to Maye, this is because it is difficult for Elon to go anywhere without being noticed. The family does not even have a group chat, and, she said, staying in touch with loved ones remains one of the billionaire’s biggest challenges.

Maye also revealed that Elon is almost constantly busy with work. “Elon is very busy now — although he’s always busy. So I don’t text him things like, ‘How are you feeling, darling?’” she said.

According to Maye, even when she visits him, Elon continues working, with meetings scheduled practically every hour, including on weekends. The family’s most recent gathering took place in June to celebrate his 55th birthday at a secret location.

“It was just wonderful. You can relax because nobody knows where we are,” Maye said.
