14:14 18 September, 2026Dawn Emmett and Neil Haycock have become social media stars thanks to what seems like the most ordinary of household rituals: every evening, Neil cooks dinner for his fiancée. Their videos have already racked up more than 44 million views.
It all began in February, when Dawn Emmett posted a TikTok video of her fiancé, Neil Haycock, preparing mussels and fries. She wasn’t expecting anything special. She simply wanted to capture her future husband’s familiar evening routine — cooking dinner for her.
But Dawn continued posting videos in which she would always ask Neil the same question: “What’s for dinner tonight, Neil?” And then something unexpected happened: the clips began gaining popularity at lightning speed — and they show no signs of slowing down.
Over the past six months, the Birmingham, UK, couple has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers across TikTok, Facebook and Instagram. To date, their videos have been viewed more than 44 million times.
“Neil was simply doing what he always does — cooking me dinner, and I decided to film it,” Emmett told PEOPLE. “We never imagined it would touch so many hearts.”
The couple are both in their 50s and admit they have been amazed by the sheer number of kind messages they receive every day. They say they enjoy reading their followers’ comments and responding to them just as much.
The couple hopes their story will inspire others not to be afraid to try something new at any age. “We want to show people that it’s never too late to try something new, have fun and find something that brings you happiness,” they say.
