Donatella Versace Is Starting From Scratch: Legendary Designer Launches Her Own Fashion and Beauty Brand

Donatella Versace has a new fashion house — but this time, she is building it from the ground up.

The Italian designer has announced a partnership with Revolve Group to launch an independent beauty and fashion brand. The new venture is expected to debut next year.

The 71-year-old Donatella will serve as the creative director of the yet-to-be-named label. Beauty products are expected to be the first category to hit the market, with the venture eventually expanding into fashion and entertainment.

The partnership comes roughly a year and a half after Donatella stepped down from the family fashion house in March 2025. She had led Versace, the brand founded by her late brother Gianni Versace, for nearly three decades.

After her departure, sources told Page Six that her contract with Versace’s then-owner, Capri Holdings, prohibited her from using the Versace name for other brands or creating clothing outside the family fashion house.

It remains unclear how those restrictions relate to her new venture. However, the new brand will operate under a different name and plans to target several major markets, including the United States, Latin America, the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East.

“I believe creativity should be fearless, inclusive and alive, part of the world around us,” Donatella said. “This partnership gives me the freedom to connect with a new generation in a completely new way and, for me personally, through beauty and fashion,” the designer added.

Revolve Group, founded in 2003 by Michael Mente and Mike Karanikolas, generated $1.23 billion in revenue last year. The company has previously launched collaborations with rapper Cardi B and influencer Sofia Richie Grainge.

The creators describe the new label as “a digital world where people can participate, not just purchase.” Beyond products, the venture will feature content, events and experiences, bringing together commerce, entertainment and culture.

The name of Donatella Versace’s new project and its full creative vision will be unveiled in the coming months.
