Brad Pitt Returns to the World of Zombies: Paramount Officially Greenlights World War Z Sequel

Paramount Pictures has officially greenlit a sequel to World War Z, with Brad Pitt set to reprise his leading role. Edward Berger, known for All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave, will direct the project, while Dennis Kelly is writing the screenplay.

Plot details are being kept strictly under wraps.

The original World War Z was released in 2013. The film was based on Max Brooks’ novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and grossed more than $540 million worldwide.

In the first installment, Pitt played former UN investigator Gerry Lane, who races to save humanity as a rapidly spreading global pandemic transforms people into zombies.
