Tom Hanks’ Wife Rita Wilson Goes Topless at 69 and Reveals Huge Cross Tattoo on Her Back

Tom Hanks’ wife, Rita Wilson, decided to promote her new single in spectacular fashion — and in the process, gave fans an unexpected glimpse of a striking detail about her appearance.

The 69-year-old actress and singer posed topless, revealing a huge cross tattoo covering her entire back. The design turned out to be an exact copy of the tattoo worn by her son, Chet Hanks.

Wilson shared a series of photos on social media to celebrate the release of her new song, “Stranger With Age,” which is featured on the expanded edition of her album Sound of a Woman.

“Who else gets stranger with age? STRANGER WITH AGE is out everywhere,” the singer captioned the post.

In the main photo, Wilson poses topless with her back to the camera.

It turns out Rita decided to recreate the design of her 36-year-old son Chet Hanks, whom she shares with actor Tom Hanks. In May 2026, Chet showed off a similar back tattoo in one of his Instagram videos.

Wilson explained the meaning behind her new song during a recent interview with Melissa Rivers.

“I loved the song because it has this idea that we start doing things we’ve never done before because we just don’t care as much anymore,” Wilson said.

According to Wilson, as people get older, they become free from their own ideas about who they are “supposed” to be and what they should do, say or, conversely, keep to themselves.

“We are freed by our own understanding of what age means and what we should or shouldn’t do, what we should or shouldn’t say. And that directly connects to finding your voice or finding your voice — that’s what the album Sound of a Woman was about,” the singer explained.

Rita Wilson concluded by encouraging her fans not to be afraid to stand out: “Be weird!”
