Kit Harington Opens the Door to a Jon Snow Game of Thrones Spinoff: “There’s a World in Which Something Could Work”

Kit Harington may not have closed the book on Jon Snow just yet. Two years after the actor said the planned Game of Thrones spinoff centered on his iconic character had been shelved, he has once again suggested that a return to the role could still be possible.

In an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Harington admitted that he now feels much more comfortable with the idea of returning to Jon Snow and the world of Game of Thrones.

“I think I needed to go and do other things, to move beyond this project. It’s been a few years now, and I’ve had the chance to try a lot of different things. Some of them got more attention, some got less. But now I’ve done enough that I don’t feel like a person who is defined solely by this character,” the actor said.

Harington explained that following the phenomenal success of Game of Thrones, fans would often address him not by his real name, but as Jon Snow. He said this created a kind of “split identity,” prompting him to step away from the iconic character and explore other projects.

Now, several years later, the actor believes enough distance has emerged. “I feel more comfortable with the character and with that world now, and with the place they have in my life,” Harington admitted. “There’s a world in which something could work.”

Back in 2024, the actor said that the Jon Snow series had been definitively shelved. At the time, the project had been in development for around two years, but the creators were unable to agree on the story they wanted to tell.
