Former Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana has resorted to extreme measures in an attempt to improve his fitness. The footballer showed off an unusual recovery treatment that even involved real fire.

The 30-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper, who is still technically under contract with Manchester United, is currently playing for Turkish club Trabzonspor on loan. Onana shared footage on social media showing a highly unusual form of cupping therapy — one that involves fire.

In the footage, the footballer is lying on a massage table with dozens of specialized cups covering his back. Several objects placed nearby can also be seen on fire.

Cupping therapy has long been used as part of various recovery practices. Special cups are placed on the skin to create a vacuum and suction effect. The treatment is believed to help relax muscles and improve blood circulation after physical exertion.

However, the use of fire in such procedures is considerably less common. Judging by the footage he posted, Onana decided to try this particular approach in the hope of returning from the international break in better shape.
