“He’s Already a Young Man”: Melania Trump Hints at a Changing Relationship With 20-Year-Old Barron

Melania Trump has opened up about her relationship with her son, Barron, in an unusually candid interview, appearing to suggest that the 20-year-old no longer wants to spend as much time with her as he once did.

The 56-year-old first lady spoke on Fox Business’ The Big Money Show, where host Taylor Riggs asked her how she manages to find time for her family amid her demanding schedule.

Melania admitted, however, that she does not see her husband, US President Donald Trump, or their son Barron nearly as often as she would like.

She advised other busy parents to plan their family time in advance.

“It’s good to plan. It’s always good because everyone is so busy,” she explained.

The first lady then revealed that even spending time with her husband can be difficult because of his demanding work schedule.

“My husband works — sometimes he’s in the Oval Office until 9:30 at night. Are you going to wait for him until then to have dinner? No. He’s busy, I’m busy,” Melania said.

“Family time becomes less and less, and because of that, we suffer. But it’s OK. We are here to work, to do our job well, and that’s the most important thing,” she added.

Speaking about Barron, who is currently studying at New York University, Melania noted that her son has already grown into an adult.

“Barron is already a young man, so sometimes he might even be happy that I’m just doing my own things. And that’s OK,” the first lady said.

Her comments come amid reports that Barron has been leading a relatively private and secluded life in recent months.

Last month, it was reported that the 20-year-old president’s son had effectively been placed in a kind of “protective bubble” amid heightened political violence surrounding his father.

“He doesn’t go anywhere,” a source familiar with the Trump family’s circle said at the time. Another source described Barron as a fairly private young man.

Despite Melania’s latest comments, however, Barron reportedly spent a significant part of the summer with his mother at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.
