Demna Turns the Page at Gucci: A Lavish “Store Show” in Milan Unveils a New Aesthetic

Demna presented Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection in Milan, transforming the runway into a spectacular Store Show — a large-scale fashion presentation staged inside a specially constructed, gigantic Gucci boutique. The designer himself described the collection as an embodiment of his “complete personal vision for the brand.”

This time, Demna presented Gucci from a far more glamorous and wearable perspective. After the provocative club-inspired aesthetic of his previous collections, the designer seemed to switch on the daylight without giving up luxury, dramatic silhouettes or the brand’s signature boldness.

The men’s collection opened the show with a restrained approach: black-and-white tailoring, a preppy aesthetic, Harrington jackets, leather and iconic horsebit details. But the real fashion drama began when the women’s looks took to the runway.

The women’s Gucci collection was a journey through different eras, bringing together polished office elegance with the sensual glamour of the 1980s and 1990s.

Statement shoulders were one of the defining elements. Demna gave the silhouettes an architectural quality, transforming familiar office separates into striking fashion statements. Blouses and skirts — from flirtatious minis to elegant midis — looked both polished and seductive.

The designer made particularly effective use of retro references. Pleated midi skirts in tartan were given a fresh interpretation when paired with tailored jackets and outerwear featuring voluminous sleeves. Oversized signature chains completed the looks, instantly transporting the audience to the era of extravagant power dressing.

There was no attempt to hide the woman beneath the clothes in this Gucci collection. Instead, Demna emphasized the silhouette, shoulders and waist, playing with the contrast between strict classicism and unapologetic sensuality.

But the biggest surprise came with the finale, when the designer turned the glamour all the way up. The show concluded with asymmetrical evening gowns that either flowed softly over the body, creating sensual draping, or hugged the figure almost like a second skin.

Some of the looks literally shimmered, while others came in rich jewel tones. Sleek black and white gowns brought the parade of evening glamour to a close, proving that true luxury sometimes requires nothing more than an impeccable silhouette.

At the same time, Demna did not forget Gucci’s most recognizable codes. The iconic horsebit appeared in unexpectedly oversized proportions, featuring prominently on belts, trousers, shirts and outerwear.
