Snoop Dogg Promises MTV VMA Winners a ‘Special Treat’ — but There’s a Catch

Snoop Dogg promised to treat the winners of the MTV Video Music Awards to some marijuana as he kicked off the ceremony with his trademark irreverent opening monologue.

The star-studded event took place at the Peacock Theater in the rapper’s hometown of Los Angeles, where the 54-year-old hip-hop icon took on hosting duties for the evening.

Snoop, whose love of marijuana has long been an integral part of his public persona, cheekily hinted that the audience might get a chance to join him.

“It wouldn’t be a Snoop Dogg party if I didn’t bring some of that special sticky icky icky,” he joked, using a long-standing slang term for marijuana.

The crowd erupted into applause and cheers, but Snoop was quick to temper the excitement.

“Wait, wait — this is for all the winners tonight. Winners only,” he announced.

He then teased the rest of the guests, telling “everybody else” to check under their seats.

“There shouldn’t be anything there,” the rapper added, prompting another wave of laughter from the audience.

With that, the 2026 MTV VMAs officially got underway. Taylor Swift emerged as the night’s biggest winner, taking home three MTV Video Music Awards.
