Elon Musk leaves the mother of four of his children: Shivon Zilis admits their split came as a shock

Elon Musk has unexpectedly ended his relationship with Shivon Zilis, a top technology executive and the mother of four of his children. Zilis revealed the sudden breakup on social media, sharing an emotional statement along with a screenshot of one of her most recent conversations with the billionaire, which took place just days before their split.

“It’s hard to go from being in love to having to let someone go in the space of a week, especially when there was no indication that things were heading in that direction. But sometimes that’s simply how life unfolds,” Zilis wrote on her X account on Friday, October 2.

Shivon’s relationship with the founder of Tesla and SpaceX began after Musk became a sperm donor for the children she planned to have. Despite the painful breakup, Zilis made it clear that she still has deep feelings for him and sincerely wishes him happiness.

“I am hurting, but I care deeply about Elon and will always wish him happiness and support him. Godspeed, Elon. The world is lucky to have you in it,” she wrote.

“We were always a safe space for him. A place where all of us were incredibly happy to see him, where there was always happiness and love rather than war. And all of that stood in stark contrast to his own, often combative life,” Zilis shared.

The couple have four children: twins Strider and Azure, born in 2021; daughter Arcadia, born in 2024; and their youngest son, Seldon, whose birth became known in early 2025.

“We’ve lost a lot, but thankfully I have four beautiful babies — the loves of my life,” Shivon added.

According to Zilis, her former partner “often had a restless soul,” while his early years were “full of turmoil.” She said she had wanted to give Musk something he may have been missing: the feeling of being truly understood, cared for and loved — calmly, gently and unconditionally.

“I wanted to show Elon what it feels like to be deeply understood, cared for and loved calmly and gently, in an atmosphere of stability,” she said.

Alongside her statement, Shivon shared a screenshot of a recent text exchange with the billionaire. Judging by the messages, their relationship was still warm until very shortly before the breakup.

“It was so nice seeing you at breakfast. I love you so much,” Zilis wrote.

“I love you too,” Musk replied on September 24.

During the exchange, the billionaire also admitted that it had not even occurred to him that he could have invited Shivon to a White House state dinner honoring Chinese President Xi Jinping, which took place last week.

“Oh, that means so much to me. Thank you,” Zilis replied, adding a heart emoji.

Yet just three days later, on September 27, and shortly before publicly announcing their breakup, Shivon posted a cryptic message without offering any explanation: “New day, new life.”
