The Russian political drama about diplomats is getting a new chapter. Following WARSAW’21 and BERLIN’23, Viktor Soghomonyan’s team is preparing a third project centered on Russian diplomat Vyacheslav Vasiliev — the series STAMBUl’25.

Filming for the new season has already begun in Istanbul and the Moscow region.

According to the Telegram channel of the online cinema platform Okko, Dmitry Miller will reprise his role as diplomat Vyacheslav Vasiliev.

In the story, diplomat Vyacheslav Vasiliev travels to Turkey for a vacation with his loved ones, only to find himself at the center of an international intrigue. Like the previous installments, the new detective story will explore the extraordinarily complex work of Russian diplomats and intelligence officers.

Soghomonyan himself spoke about the new season back in April 2026, describing it as a continuation of the story he is developing together with Mikhail Volobuev and other screenwriters.

Thus, STAMBUl’25 becomes the next installment in a distinctive Russian geopolitical universe centered on a diplomat who is forced to navigate international crises through negotiations, analysis and political maneuvering.

Even before work on BERLIN’23 was completed, the creators confirmed that Vasiliev’s story would not end in Germany.

Soghomonyan officially revealed the title of the new season for the first time on April 19, 2026, in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda. “Misha, our fellow screenwriters and I are already working on the third season of films about Vyacheslav Vasiliev, which will be called STAMBUl’25,” he said.

According to the producer, the new project will continue Vasiliev’s story. Soghomonyan sees the emergence of such a character on screen as stemming not only from an interest in the genre, but also from a desire to portray modern diplomacy as a dramatic world in its own right.
