Netflix Is Developing a New Bridgerton Spin-Off About Lady Violet’s Love Story

The Bridgerton universe is continuing to expand. Netflix and Shondaland have announced a new limited series exploring Lady Violet Bridgerton’s youth and her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton, the future father of the famous family.

The project does not yet have an official title and is currently being presented as a new series set in the Bridgerton universe. However, following the success of the previous spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the show could potentially be titled Lady Violet: A Bridgerton Story. No final decision has been made, Variety reports.

The new spin-off promises to explore the Bridgerton family’s history from an unexpected angle, revealing how the love story that became part of the family’s legacy began.

In the original Bridgerton series, the older Lady Violet is played by British actress Ruth Gemmell. In Queen Charlotte, young Violet Ledger was portrayed by Connie Jenkins-Greig. It remains unclear whether Jenkins-Greig will reprise her role in the new project or whether other stars from Bridgerton or Queen Charlotte will appear.

Meanwhile, production on Bridgerton Season 5 is already underway in London. The new season will focus on Francesca Bridgerton, played by Hannah Dodd, and Michaela Stirling, portrayed by Masali Baduza.

The fourth season once again demonstrated the franchise’s popularity, debuting at No. 1 on Netflix’s global English-language TV chart. Queen Charlotte proved equally successful: the six-episode series, released in 2023, topped Netflix’s rankings in 91 countries.
