‘I Don’t Want to Get Naked in Front of a Stranger’: Amanda Seyfried Turned Down Lead Role Over Sex Scenes

Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she turned down a leading role in a new series because the script would have required her to perform frequent sex scenes. The 40-year-old actress said she is no longer comfortable with such scenes and does not feel ready to take them on at this stage of her life.

During a discussion with Alec Baldwin at the Hamptons International Film Festival, held on October 4 in East Hampton, New York, the star explained that the sheer number of intimate scenes was what ultimately led her to reject the project.

“I turned down a series where I would have had to have sex on screen all the time,” Seyfried admitted. “I don’t want to do that. I’m uncomfortable with it. It doesn’t appeal to me at all right now,” she added.

According to Seyfried, filming such scenes had not always been a source of concern for her. “It wasn’t even a problem. I’d think, ‘Today I get to kiss an attractive man… and I’m getting paid for it, too,’” she recalled.

However, her attitude towards such roles has changed with age. The actress explained that becoming a mother has made her look at what she does on screen differently.

Seyfried has a nine-year-old daughter, Nina, and a six-year-old son, Thomas, with her husband, Thomas Sadoski, from whom she is currently living separately. The couple announced their separation last month after nine years of marriage.

“I have kids now who are watching what I do,” the actress explained.

She did not rule out the possibility of reconsidering her position on similar offers in the future. For now, however, the prospect of getting naked in front of someone with whom she has no romantic connection makes her uncomfortable.

“I don’t want to have to deal with getting naked in front of a stranger,” Seyfried said. “The older I get, the weirder it seems to me. We have to portray romantic relationships with people we don’t actually have those kinds of feelings for,” she added.
