13:23 13 October, 2026A young British woman, Jess Olivia, found herself in a beauty nightmare after a routine treatment went horribly wrong. She accidentally fell asleep without washing off her eyebrow dye and woke up with brows so dark and thick that her horrified reaction quickly went viral on social media.
The video, posted on TikTok, has racked up more than 40 million views. In the clip, Jess realizes in disbelief that the thick black dye has been sitting on her face all night.
“I’ve just woken up and forgot to take the dye off my eyebrows… No, this is not good because I’m going out tonight!” she exclaims, desperately trying to remove the pigment with micellar water and cotton pads.

But instead of quickly restoring her brows to their usual appearance, Jess discovers that the skin around them has become heavily stained, leaving her eyebrows looking unusually dark and sharply defined.
Her ordeal sparked a huge reaction on TikTok, with nearly 26,000 comments pouring in beneath the video.
Some users compared her new brows to those of actress Amanda Bynes, known for her distinctive looks, while others said they resembled a character from the popular game Angry Birds.

“You’re not going anywhere tonight,” one user wrote.
“Maybe don’t show your face in public just yet,” another advised.
“I’m panicking right alongside you,” a third commenter admitted.
“I bet your heart sank when you woke up,” another follower remarked.
Beauty brands also joined the conversation. British pharmacy and beauty retailer Boots quipped: “You definitely nailed the tinting.”
“We can feel your panic from here,” Benefit Cosmetics commented.
“Well, the product works,” the British Cetaphil account joked.
“We’re worried about you,” Garnier added. Jess had used the brand’s micellar water in her attempt to remove the dye.
Why You Should Never Leave Eyebrow Dye on Overnight
Behind the amusing mishap lies a serious warning: eyebrow tint should never be left on the skin longer than the time specified in the instructions. This is usually between five and 10 minutes, although the exact timing depends on the product.
Prolonged exposure to chemical ingredients can cause severe irritation, redness, blistering, chemical burns and allergic contact dermatitis.
The dye can also stain not only the hairs but the outermost layer of the skin. Leaving it on for several hours can make the stains much harder to remove, while vigorous scrubbing may further damage the skin.
