11:12 17 October, 2026Boxing legend Mike Tyson has revealed the luxury he still refuses to cut back on. Despite suffering financial ruin in the past, the 60-year-old athlete continues to spend lavishly on high-end fragrances.
In Netflix’s new documentary series TYSON, which has already premiered on the platform, Tyson opens up about the years when his fortune was worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The boxer is estimated to have earned around $400 million during his career, but his extravagant lifestyle, alleged financial misconduct by former managers, and two costly divorces contributed to his downfall. In 2003, he filed for bankruptcy, reporting debts of $23 million.
At the height of his wealth, Tyson owned more than 25 luxury cars, including five Bentley Azure models, several mansions, and three white Bengal tigers. He also indulged in private flights, expensive alcohol, and cocaine.
Yet even after rebuilding his fortune through business ventures, entertainment projects, sponsorship deals, and public appearances, some of his costly habits have remained.
“You know what I still spend a lot of money on? Perfume. If you’ve heard of AMAFFI, that’s what I wear,” Tyson told PEOPLE.
The Swiss perfume house AMAFFI creates fragrances that can take up to two years to develop. Its bottles feature crystals, gold- and silver-plated details, and intricate decorative designs. Prices for fragrances listed on the brand’s website range from $2,000 to $6,000.
“I have a whole collection of bottles, probably worth around $50,000 in total,” the boxer admitted.
Tyson stressed, however, that fatherhood and the future are now his top priorities. He also revealed that he has not consumed alcohol or used cocaine for ten years.
Reflecting on his turbulent past, the athlete believes that even his most difficult experiences ultimately helped him grow.
“Everything that seemed negative eventually turned into something good for me. I’m grateful for everything because it made me a better person. I’m grateful even for all the bad things that happened to me,” Tyson said.
