Nicki Minaj appeared alongside Donald Trump in Michigan wearing a striking Gucci outfit, prompting the White House to joke about her potential appointment to one of the administration’s most high-profile positions, the New York Post reports. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung suggested that the rapper could become the president’s next press secretary.

Minaj accompanied Trump after Air Force One landed at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. The singer, best known for her hit Super Bass, has increasingly voiced support for the US president in recent months and appeared alongside him at public events.

The joke was prompted by a video of Minaj’s arrival that Cheung posted on social media. “Looks like we found the next White House Press Secretary!” he wrote. The comment came after the unexpected resignation of Katie Zachariah, who left the position just five days after being appointed.

Minaj has previously expressed open support for Trump’s policies, including his economic agenda, and has already appeared alongside the president at official events. Her political statements have made the rapper one of Trump’s most unexpected celebrity allies.

However, questions remain about Minaj’s citizenship status. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, she moved to the United States as a child. According to the New York Post, she is a permanent resident of the country, but it remains unclear whether she has obtained US citizenship. Her eligibility to vote in elections has therefore also not been confirmed.
