Hollywood actor Joe Manganiello has received the key to the city of Glendale, California, from Mayor Ardy Kassakhian. The actor shared the special moment on Instagram, thanking the city for the honor and readers for supporting his memoir, Bloodlines, which became a national bestseller in its first week on sale.

The ceremony took place during a book presentation in Los Angeles. The event and Q&A session were moderated by television host Araxie Karapetyan. Afterward, Manganiello and the attendees went for dinner at the Armenian restaurant Carousel.

“It was a tremendous honor to receive the key to Glendale yesterday, a city with the largest Armenian diaspora outside Armenia,” the actor wrote, singling out Mayor Kassakhian and Karapetyan for their participation in the event. He also thanked everyone who purchased the print or audiobook editions, noting that readers’ support had helped the memoir achieve national bestseller status.

In Bloodlines, Manganiello opens up about personal challenges, including his struggle with autoimmune diseases, while also exploring his family history. One of the memoir’s central themes is the story of his great-grandmother, who survived the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

The actor accompanied his post with Serj Tankian’s song Snow on Ararat. His choice added another layer of symbolic meaning, connecting an important milestone in Manganiello’s life with his family’s Armenian heritage.
