21:32 30 October, 2026As some Americans struggle to keep up with rising costs, Ivanka Trump is enjoying the fall season at a hotel where a single night can cost nearly $6,000. The president’s daughter shared photos from a luxurious getaway in Virginia, featuring historic interiors, fireplaces, swans on a lake, horses and picture-perfect scenery. But instead of admiration, the post sparked a wave of criticism. Users quickly looked up the price of the stay and accused Ivanka of flaunting a level of luxury that feels out of touch.
The 44-year-old Ivanka posted a series of photos on Instagram with the simple caption “Autumn.” The images featured floral arrangements, geese, a llama, sheep, swans and cozy corners of a countryside hotel. The idyllic scenes soon gave way to another talking point: Donald Trump's daughter had reportedly checked into The Inn at Little Washington, a five-star hotel at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, about an hour and a half from Washington, D.C.
Room rates range from $720 to $5,710 per night. Prices at the hotel's restaurant, The Dining Room, which holds two Michelin stars, are equally impressive. The seven-course tasting menu costs $388 per person, while a special caviar menu comes to $3,050, including service.
According to The Daily Beast, it was the contrast between Ivanka's luxurious getaway and the financial struggles facing ordinary Americans that irritated many users. “What a beautiful life you have in those pictures when you have hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank, right?” one commenter wrote sarcastically. Others considered the post tone-deaf given the country's economic situation.
Not everyone joined in the criticism, however. Some followers left compliments, praised Ivanka's taste and called the photos beautiful. The reaction to her getaway was far from unanimous.
