Famous actress, Javier Bardem’s mother dies from cancer

Performing and movie actress and 52-year-old Javier Bardem’s mother, Pilar Bardem has passed away after a long battle against cancer. She was 82 years old.

Pilar was an addictive smoker, and even her serious health problems didn’t help her refuse the harmful habit. The actress was diagnosed with lung cancer that she was never able to overcome. She was transferred to one of the best clinics in Madrid, but doctors couldn’t save her life.

“We want to share the bitter news that our mother, our example in everything, has died. She died in peace, without suffering and was surrounded by the love of her relatives,” the late actress’s children — Carlos, Monica and Javier — said in an interview with El Pais.

Throughout her career, Pilar starred in over 80 films, 43 plays and 31 soap operas. She also received a Goya Award. In addition, Penelope Cruz’s mother-in-law actively fought for women’s rights and was especially known for this in Spain.
