Movie about Artsakh war wins awards at international festival

Jivan Avetisyan's film "Gate to Heaven," the events of which take place in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in 2016, has won four awards at the Ontario International Film Festival (ONIFF) in Canada.

As per the Facebook page ONIFF, this movie won awards in the categories of "Best Sound for an International Feature," "Best Music for an International Feature," "Best Script for an International Feature," and "Best International Film".

This year’s ONIFF was held from October 15 to 24.

"Gate to Heaven" depicts the Artsakh war and the lives of the characters united around it, the greatest mistake of the main character, and the great desire to correct it. The events in this movie develop in April 2016. Well-known German journalist Robert returns to Artsakh to cover the events of the war that broke out again after a 22-year ceasefire. During his journalistic investigation, he meets young opera singer Sofya, they fall in love, but soon he finds out who Sofya really is.
