Stephen Sondheim dies aged 91

One of the most influential composers of the second half of the 20th century, poet, playwright, and author of many Broadway musicals, Stephen Sondheim, has passed away in the United States, The New York Times reported referring to his lawyer Richard Pappas.

The musician was 91 years old. His lawyer said that he did not know the cause of Sondheim's death: the composer's illness was not reported, and his death came suddenly.Sondheim's breakthrough on Broadway came with "West Side Story" in 1957, quickly followed by "Gypsy" two years later.
