1.Freddie Prinze Jr., Leonardo DiCaprio, and Heath Ledger were considered for the role of Peter Parker, and director Sam Raimi personally insisted on his candidacy. The title role eventually went to Tobey Maguire.

2.James Franco auditioned for the role of Peter Parker but eventually played Harry Osborne.

3.The role of the Green Goblin was offered to Nicolas Cage and John Malkovich. Willem Dafoe has never been considered for the role of the Green Goblin. However, after Willem read the script, he began to actively seek this role. In order to prove that he is suitable, Willem filmed several scenes in his hotel room, where he read the role of the Green Goblin.
